55mm (82.5mm) Prime Lense
I'm constantly browsing second hand market bargains for older but quality lenses for Sony e-Mount. I was really happy with the Sony Zeiss 24mm F.18 (35mm full frame focal length). It remains as my favourite all around lens and focal length and on my Sony APS-C camera all the time. For documentation work, I've found it easy to use, because it's close to a normal point of view. ie. it captures what I see, so I'm framing with my eyes. It also requires you be more intimate and involved in the scene you're documenting, which I also found helpful for documentation work.
I liked it so much, that I was looking at the 55mm full frame version of it, which is almost the same size, to get a different look. The quality of the photos from the lense is as expected. Familiar colours, sharpness and look to the Sony Zeiss 24mm.
But unlike the versatility of a 35mm equivalent focal length, I found shooting at 82.5mm initially challenging. It's has a more candid feel where you're at a distance from the subject. This also means that if you want to take in more of the scene, you'll need a lot more space, else the subject will always be filling up most of the frame. This space requirement, makes it much less versatile for me.
Some initial mundane example below, but I should get better over time with familiarity (hopefully).
